How to convert an employee handbook into training

Turn the static PDF nobody reads into a course every frontliner completes. Upload, generate, restructure for retention, and assign across every location.

25 min

Step-by-step

  1. Upload the handbook in its current format

Drop your handbook PDF, Word doc, or PowerPoint into the upload zone. No need to clean it up first - Aristotl reads embedded tables, headers, footers, and figures. Within a minute you'll see a parsed structure with chapters mapped to candidate modules. Skim the parse to confirm your section headings carried over; correct any mis-parsed headings inline.

  2. Generate the AI-built course

Click 'Generate course'. Aristotl produces interactive modules with knowledge checks, mini-scenarios, and a structured flow. A 60-page handbook becomes a 90-minute course - significantly shorter than reading the whole document because Aristotl extracts what frontliners actually need to know and skips legalese they sign once. Review the output before publishing.

  3. Restructure for retention, not coverage

Edit the module order: front-load behavior-changing content (safety, customer interaction) and demote reference material (PTO policy, parking) to a 'reference' tab. Aristotl's pedagogy engine applies spaced retrieval automatically - frontliners re-encounter the most operationally critical points across modules. The result reads like training, not like the handbook with quizzes bolted on.

  4. Assign and replace the static PDF

Assign the handbook course to every frontliner across every location, with auto-assign-on-hire enabled for future staff. Remove the static PDF from your onboarding folder and replace it with the course link. From this point forward, 'has read the handbook' means 'completed the course with a passing quiz score' - verifiable, exportable, audit-ready. No more attestation forms in shared drives.
