SCORM

Sharable Content Object Reference Model—a set of technical standards for e-learning software products that governs how online learning content and LMS platforms communicate.

SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is the most widely adopted e-learning standard, enabling interoperability between learning content and LMS platforms. Developed by the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative, SCORM defines how content is packaged and how it communicates with the LMS to track completion, scores, and time spent. While SCORM 1.2 remains common, SCORM 2004 added sequencing and navigation features. Though still prevalent, SCORM is gradually being supplemented by xAPI for more advanced tracking needs.
